Due to some good rainfall over recent winters many of the large Eucalypts flowered along the Elwood Canal (Elster Creek). Often the trees would be full of squawking Rainbow and Musk Lorikeets. I came across a few Rainbow Lorikeets hanging down from the lower branches, quite happily ignoring me as they fed on the nectar.
I often walk around my area looking to see what new birds may be passing through. I can find up to 35 species in my area – I back onto a creek (officially a storm water canal) that has been revegetated with native planting and this has had the effect of bringing in more birds to the area…there is quite a list building.
