While I was paying a lot of attention to the Black-winged Stilts that were resting and preening on the rowing platforms on Albert Park Lake in inner Melbourne, a pair of swans cruised up to my side and waited patiently to be fed. These semi-tame swans are used to being fed by people at the local picnic tables. Being empty handed I took advantage of their tameness (and hunger) to practice my portrait shots.

love these pretty waterbirds. I logged R13. mum and day raised 5 cyngets all born october 10 sadly they all mysteriously dissapeard:( sad to see and mum was distressed but i go and see them all the time and there both doing well now considering wat the poor bird went through.

Thanks for the comments Daniella, often the cygnets are taken by foxes . There are many foxes around even in the inner suburbs of major cities.
